and Black Bart
On April 30th, Jim and I along with Jane Johnson, our partner and
hired hand, hosted a visit from Garth Rumsmoke of Trail Rider
Magazine, his horse and his dog, Tap.

When Garth arrived we got his horse settled in his stall and
paddock, then we took Garth on a tour of the facility.  Afterwards,
Garth and I spend hours talking from rockers on the porch of the
lodge.

While we were talking, Mike Conover arrived to join his wife from
Kentucky.

When Cindy Ellsworth and Carol Conover, returned from their ride
around the North White Oak Loop, we all went to the restaurant for
a dinner of salad, chicken and dumplings, biscuits.  We had some
great laughs and conversation around the dinner table.

Tuesday morning we had a breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon,
sausage, hash brown potatoes, biscuits and sausage gravy,
strawberry pancakes and fruit and some great coffee.

We all then saddled up and trailered to the Gobblers Trail Head on
Divide Road and rode Hatfield Ridge to the river, then on to Charit
Creek Lodge, where we took a lunch break,  and then  returned  to
the Trail Head.  It turned out to be a beautiful 4 hour ride, and we
were proud of Jane's 24 year old Macho and my 3 year old Rosie.

Cindy had to leave to go back to work, but the rest of us stayed
and dined on BBQ pork ribs, (yummy!), baked potatoes, salad bar
and peas.  Riding can sure make a person hungry!!!  We all had a
good laugh about the day's events.

Wednesday, after another great breakfast that included blueberry
pancakes, we took pictures around the lodge and then Garth was
off on another adventure.

We sure had a good time with Garth and our guests and look
forward to a future visit with all.

crossing on of the many streams on
the way to Chariot Creek Lodge.
At the river, Rosie says she ain't
crossing.  It was too high!!  That's Jim
riding my Rosie.  For a 3 year old, she
kept up real good.
Garth and the boys had a good time
playing poker.  I'm not sure which one
had the best poker face.
Claudia, Gray Wolf, Garth, Jim,  Bart
and Jane.  A wild and crazy bunch if I
ever saw one!
<---What was that they said
about "sitting"  the saddle?.
