| TRAIL RIDES & PONY STYLE RIDES Rides during August leave at 7am Central Time Daily, weather permitting Reservations are strongly suggested. Walk-in's welcome Cash, Visa, Discover and Mastercard welcome ADULT OR CHILD FIRST LESSON: Ages 6 and up Learn some basic horse while assisting in the grooming of the horses. After mounting and adjusting stirrups, the horses are hand led to a grassy paddock. Riders are then taught how to turn, stop and back the horses while being led. Older riders that "learn the reins" are then allowed, if they so desire, to continue riding on their own. Riders are allowed to switch from their mount to another if already in use; trying a quarter horse, then maybe a gaited horse and then maybe a mule! If rider is feeling really brave and comfortable, you are allowed to ride our mini-trails around the property and experience what it is like to ride the park. Parents are encouraged to bring cameras and video-cams. Its more than just a pony wheel, it's a first riding lesson!! Takes about 1.5 hrs. $30.00 per Adult, $20.00 Children under 10. CHILDREN 2-6 YRS OLD: With riding helmets on, children enjoy a hand led horseback ride around the barnyard. Cost is $1.00 per minute, Min $6.00 and Maximum 20 minutes ADULTS AND CHILDREN 10 AND OVER: Guided Rides- Our Horses $25.00 per hour/2 hour Minimum 2 HOUR RIDE - $50.00 per person Ride to the beautiful Laurel Fork Overlook where you can take pictures and enjoy the Big South Fork scenery. It is recommended to bring water or other cold drink with you. 4 HOUR (1/2 DAY) $95.00 per person. Pack a snack and water and ride first to the Laurel Fork Overlook, then down to the North White Oak River, where you will ride the old O&W Railroad Bed to the Swimming Hole where you can swim at your own risk or just rest and have a snack before your return. On a longer ride you can go on to see the O&W Bridge or cross the river and ride to the Needle's Eye (for more experienced riders only). On your return you can stop by the "Ole Swimming Hole" for a refreshing dip in the river. If you are a return rider, let us know and we will plan a different ride for you. Note: 250 lb wt limit Guide Service - $10.00 per hour 2 hour Minimum/$75.00 All Day - Your Own Horses Custom Rides; Gather your friends and family create your own, LADIES ONLY, Family Reunions, Parent/Child, Singles Only WHAT TO WEAR:: WEAR comfortable clothing that can get dirty. Jeans, layers, jackets, hats. Wear closed toe shoes. You will not be allowed to ride if you wear sandals or flip-flops. Try to wear boots or shoes with narrow toes as they fit the stirrups best. Sunglasses need to be secured. BE SURE TOO BRING YOUR CAMERA. Most cellphones will not work. BRING sunscreen and bug repellent. Check in at the Hitching Post and you must sign a waiver. We will then proceed to the camp where we will get the horses. We will groom the horses and saddle up, check our stirrups and have riding instructions.
